Terms & conditions
Last updated: 10. October 2026
These terms and conditions (“Terms”) explain how you can use alegart.com/uk (the “Website”) and the terms on which we supply our personalised artwork. Please read them carefully before you request a preview. When you place an order, you will be asked to confirm that you accept them.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Section 14 explains which version applies to your order.

ALEGART Ltd is the seller and the company you contract with for all orders placed on the Website.
2. Using our Website
2.1 You must be 18 or over to place an order. Our products are for private, domestic use.
2.2 You need an account to upload photos and place an order. Please keep your login details secure and let us know if you think someone else has used your account.
2.3 We may refuse, limit or cancel a preview request or order if we reasonably believe that the information provided is incorrect, there is a problem with payment, we suspect fraud or misuse, the content you have uploaded breaches Section 3, or the product is no longer available. We may also limit the number of open preview requests per customer. If we cancel an order after you have paid, we will refund you in full.
2.4 The price shown when you place your preview request is the price you will pay, including any valid discount applied at that time. If we make an obvious error in a price, we will contact you before you pay and you can choose whether to continue.
2.5 Every Alegart artwork is digital art, finished by hand by one of our artists. Style names such as “Oil painting”, “Acrylic painting” and “Watercolour” describe the look of the finished artwork, not the use of physical paint.
2.6 Examples shown on the Website are for illustration. Your finished artwork is based on the preview you approve. Printed colours and textures may vary slightly from how they appear on screen because of screen settings, materials and the printing process.
2.7 All content on the Website is owned by or licensed to Alegart and is protected by intellectual property laws. You must not copy, reproduce or reuse any part of the Website without our prior written consent, except as permitted in Section 3 or by law.
3. Your photos, previews and artwork
3.1 Your content. You are responsible for the photos, text and other content you upload. You confirm that you have the right to use it, including permission from anyone shown in a photo where needed, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, break any law or contain unlawful, hateful, abusive or obscene material.
3.2 How we use your content. You give Alegart and our production partners a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, copy and adapt your content only to prepare your previews, create and supply your artwork, and help you with your order. We will not use your photos or your artwork in our marketing, social media or portfolio without your separate permission. Our Privacy Policy explains how long we keep your files.
3.3 Photo quality. The quality of your photo affects the finished artwork. We may decline a preview request if a photo is not suitable or breaches Section 3.1. Preparing your preview is free.
3.4 Previews. Previews are provided so that you can review your artwork before deciding whether to buy. They are lower resolution and may be watermarked. You are welcome to share a preview privately with family or friends to help you decide, but you must not print it, edit it, remove a watermark or use it in any other way. Your right to use the artwork starts only once you have paid.
3.5 Artistic interpretation. Artistic interpretation is part of the style you choose and is shown in your preview. This does not affect your statutory rights if the artwork you receive is faulty or does not match the preview you approved or the description of your order.
3.6 Copyright. You keep any rights you have in the photos and other content you provide. Alegart and our artists keep the copyright in the artwork we create. When you buy, you receive the rights set out below.
3.7 Printed artwork. Once your printed artwork has been delivered and paid for, it belongs to you. You may display it, photograph it and share photos of it on your personal social media.
3.8 Digital artwork licence. Once your payment has been confirmed, we grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, non-expiring licence to use your digital artwork for personal, non-commercial purposes.
3.9 What you can do. You may download and keep copies of the file, display the artwork privately, share images of it on your personal social media, and have prints made for yourself or as personal gifts. You may give the file to a printing service only to produce these prints.
3.10 What you cannot do. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you must not sell or license the file, sell products featuring the artwork, use it in commercial advertising, upload it to stock image libraries or make the full-size file publicly available for download. This does not prevent any use permitted by law.
3.11 Download links. An expired download link does not end your licence. Please keep a backup copy of your downloaded file.
4. How ordering works
4.1 Your preview request. When you place your order and upload your photo, you are requesting a free artwork preview. No payment is taken and no card details are needed at this stage. We aim to email your preview within 24–48 hours.
4.2 Your 7-day decision period. Once we email you the complete preview for all artworks in your order, you have 7 calendar days to review it and decide whether to go ahead. We will give you the exact deadline in that email and send you a reminder before it. Within this period you can approve and pay, request your included revision (Section 4.3), or tell us that you do not wish to continue. If you request your revision, a new 7-day period starts when we email you the updated, complete preview. If you neither pay nor request your revision before the deadline, we will cancel your unpaid preview request automatically. Nothing is charged, and you are welcome to place a new request at any time. If you need more time, contact us before the deadline. We may agree a longer period with you in writing.
4.3 Your included revision. One revision is included before you pay. Use the “Request changes” button on your preview page and tell us what you would like changed. If your order includes more than one artwork, tell us which artwork or artworks in the same request. We will then send you an updated preview. If you would like further changes after that, please contact us. We will tell you whether we can help and whether any extra charge applies before we do any further work. This limit does not apply to changes needed because the artwork is faulty or does not match your order.
4.4 Approving and paying. When you are happy with your preview, select “Approve & Pay” to go to our secure payment page. Before paying, please check your artwork and order details carefully, including the size, material, frame colour, any personal message and your delivery address. Your approval is recorded only when payment is completed successfully, and it applies to the current previews of all artworks in your order.
4.5 When the contract is formed. Your preview request does not oblige you to buy. The contract for your printed or digital artwork is formed when your payment has been successfully completed. We will confirm this by email.
4.6 Production and digital supply. We start producing printed artwork, and make full-size digital artwork available, only after your payment has been confirmed.
5. Prices and payment
5.1 Prices. Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Delivery to UK addresses is free for printed artwork. Digital artwork is supplied by download, with no delivery charge. We currently deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom only.
5.2 Payment methods. Depending on your device and eligibility, available payment methods may include cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna. The options available to you are shown on the payment page. Klarna payments are subject to Klarna’s own terms and eligibility checks.
5.3 Unsuccessful payment. If your payment is not successful, your artwork is not approved and nothing is produced. You can try again from your order within your decision period, or contact us for help.
5.4 If you decide not to go ahead. We never take payment automatically. If your unpaid preview request is cancelled under Section 4.2, no refund is due because no payment has been taken. Preview links may expire for security reasons; this does not by itself cancel your order. You can find your latest preview in My Account or contact us for a new link during your decision period.
5.5 Confirmation and invoices. We will email you once your payment has been confirmed. Invoices and receipts are issued in line with UK VAT requirements.
6. Promotions and discount codes
6.1 Promotions apply only during their stated period and under their stated conditions. We may withdraw or change a promotion where this is lawful, but this will not affect a code that was validly applied to your preview request.
6.2 If you applied a valid discount code when placing your preview request, it will still apply when you pay within your decision period, even if the promotion has ended in the meantime, provided your order has not changed.
6.3 Only one discount code can be used per order unless we state otherwise.
6.4 Any refund on a discounted order will be based on the amount you actually paid.
7. Delivery
7.1 Production of printed artwork begins once your payment has been confirmed. Estimated production and delivery times are shown on our Delivery page and in your order emails. Unless we agree a different period with you, we will deliver within 30 days of the contract being formed.
7.2 We will let you know if there is a significant delay. Your statutory rights in relation to late or failed delivery are not affected.
7.3 Printed artwork is produced in the UK by our production partner, Printful, and delivered by third-party carriers. We will send you dispatch and tracking information where available. Your contract remains with Alegart.
7.4 Printed artwork is your responsibility from the time it is delivered to you or to a person you have nominated.
7.5 If a parcel is returned to us because it was not collected or because the address you gave was incorrect, we will contact you to arrange redelivery. Additional postage may apply. If you would prefer not to receive the item, we will refund the price you paid less our reasonable delivery and return costs. This does not affect your statutory rights.
7.6 Digital delivery. Once your payment has been confirmed, your full-size digital artwork is available through a secure download link in your confirmation email and in My Account. Email download links expire after seven days. You can get a new link through My Account or by contacting us. An expired link does not cancel your order.
8. Cancelling your order
8.1 Before you pay. You can cancel at any time before you pay, free of charge. You can simply not proceed with payment, or email us with your order number and we will close your request. If you take no action within your decision period, your request will be cancelled automatically as described in Section 4.2.
8.2 Printed artwork. Our printed artwork is made to your specifications and clearly personalised, so the statutory 14-day right to cancel for change of mind does not apply once you have paid. This does not affect your rights if the artwork is faulty or not as described (Section 9).
8.3 Digital artwork. You normally have a statutory right to cancel a contract for digital content within 14 days of the contract being formed. Before you pay, we will ask you to agree that your download is made available straight away and to acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel once it is. We will confirm your agreement in your payment confirmation email. If you do not want to give this agreement, please contact us before paying. Personalisation alone does not remove this right to cancel.
8.4 How to cancel and refunds. Where a statutory right to cancel applies, you can tell us by email or by using the model cancellation form below. We will refund you within 14 days of being told, using the payment method you used.
8.5 Nothing in this section affects your rights if your printed artwork or digital artwork is faulty or not as described (Section 9).

9. If something is wrong with your order
9.1 Printed artwork. If your printed artwork is faulty, not of satisfactory quality, not fit for an agreed purpose or not as described, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These include a short-term right to reject it for a full refund, normally within 30 days of delivery, or you can ask for a repair or replacement instead. After that period, you may still be entitled to a repair or replacement and, where the legal conditions are met, a price reduction or a final right to reject. These rights apply to personalised products too.
9.2 Digital artwork. If your digital artwork is faulty, cannot be downloaded or does not match what you ordered, you are entitled to a repair or replacement and, where the legal conditions are met, a price reduction or refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or compensate you.
9.3 Telling us about a problem. Please email info.uk@alegart.com with your order number and a description of the problem. Where possible, include photos of the printed artwork, or screenshots of any download problem. This helps us resolve things quickly, but it is not a condition of your statutory rights.
9.4 Returns. If a printed item needs to be returned, we will give you instructions. Where a return is needed because the item is faulty or not as described, we will cover the reasonable return costs and either arrange collection or provide a pre-paid return label.
9.5 If your claim is accepted, we will repair or replace the item or give you the appropriate refund, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Please also see our Refund & returns.
10. Third-party services and links
10.1 We use trusted third parties to help us print, package and deliver your order, including our print and fulfilment partner and couriers. Your contract remains with ALEGART Ltd.
10.2 Our Website may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or policies, so please review their terms and privacy notices.
11. Our responsibility to you
11.1 We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if both we and you knew it might happen when the contract was formed.
11.2 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of your statutory rights, or for any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
11.3 Our products are for private, domestic use. We are not responsible for any business losses, such as loss of profit, revenue, contracts, data or goodwill, or for losses that were not caused by our breach.
12. Events outside our control
If an event outside our reasonable control affects production, digital supply or delivery, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible, explain how your order is affected and take reasonable steps to minimise the disruption. This does not affect your statutory rights in relation to delayed or failed supply, cancellation or refunds.
13. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy policy and Cookie policy explain how we use your personal data and cookies.
14. Changes to these Terms
The version of these Terms in force when you submit your preview request applies to that request and to any resulting order.
Later changes apply to new preview requests and orders. They will not change the terms of an existing request or order unless you expressly agree or the change is required by law. If we need to ask for your agreement, we will explain the change first. Continuing to use the Website does not, by itself, mean that you agree to a change affecting an existing request or order.
15. Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring proceedings in the Scottish courts. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of Northern Ireland.
16. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a complaint, please email info.uk@alegart.com or call us on +44 20 3996 3926. We will reply as quickly as we can and do our best to put things right. If you are not happy with our response, you can get free, independent advice from Citizens Advice (England and Wales), Advice Direct Scotland or Consumerline (Northern Ireland).
17. Other important terms
17.1 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation. We will tell you if this happens and make sure the transfer does not reduce your rights.
17.2 If a court decides that any part of these Terms is unlawful, the rest will remain in full effect.
17.3 If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
17.4 These Terms are between you and us. No other person has any right to enforce them.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
